Welcome to the LGBTQ Alumni Webpage! Here you will find up to date information regarding current campus events, workshops, helpful links and other activities including this year’s LGBTQ Alumni Celebration set for Alumni Weekend in June 2006, sponsored in part by The Lesbian and Gay Studies Project (LGSP), a group of LGBTQ alumni, and The University of Chicago Alumni Association.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS for this year’s Alumni Weekend and LGBTQ Alumni Celebration!!! The 2006 LGBTQ Alumni Weekend Day will be Saturday, June 3rd. This year we will have a panel discussion with LGBTQ U of C students as they reflect upon their lives in The University as well as discuss past professional and academic experiences working in LGBTQ related fields, entitled:

LGBTQ Students Speak OUT: Life in the University Today @ the Center for Gender Studies, June 3 rd, 5:30pm – 6:30pm

Panelists will include:

John Gabriel: John has been president of the University’s Queers and Associates student organization and is a fourth-year undergraduate. He has participated in the Summer Links Internship program and has been very active in both queer politics on and off campus. John also works with Chicago’s Howard Brown Health Center to bring anonymous HIV testing to the University of Chicago.
Justin Hill: Justin is a fourth-year undergraduate and is double majoring in Law, Letters & Society and Political Science. He is an executive board member of Leaders in the Fight to Eradicate (LIFE) AIDS. He has participated in the University’s Human Rights Internship Program where he worked at the Black AIDS Institute in Los Angeles and is also writing his B.A. thesis on the impact HIV/AIDS has on incarcerated black people and their communities.
Nicole Urbach: Nicole is on her last year at the University of Chicago Divinity School where she will earn her Masters of Divinity. She has been involved in campus LGBTQ student organization QueeReligious as well as Interfaith and other graduate-affiliated/or religious student groups. Nicole has also been heavily involved with the University’s Rockefeller Memorial Chapel.
Matthew Patton: Matt is an advanced graduate student in Social Psychology. His research includes the study of social injustice and the application of psychological principles to law. He has been involved in QueeReligious and served as a facilitator in the OpenSource program.

A LGBTQ Alumni Celebration will be held after the panel presentation @ the home of Jim McDaniel and Kevin Hochberg, 5000 South East End Ave. Apartment 26C, June 3 rd, 9:00pm. The reunion will give alumni, faculty and friends an opportunity to celebrate their past, present and future and reconnect at the University for another year.

This year we are asking alumni to register for Alumni Weekend by May 25 th. You can access the registration form on the main webpage for Alumni Weekend 2006 provided below. Alternatively, you can also register for LGBTQ alumni related events only by emailing the LGBTQ Alumni Group Coordinator before May 25th. If you would like to register for other events in addition to the LGBTQ student panel and celebration, please fill out the general registration form. Also remember to check the LGBTQ Alumni webpage for links to the Alumni Weekend 2006 webpage and other important updates.
